An hypothesis
My tentative insight into explaining how being a member of a minority within other minorities can adversely effect ones prowess (a superior skill that you can learn by study and practice and observation).

The following explanation will hopefully describe my membership in the various levels of minorities during the different stages of my life.

South Africa
Whilst I lived in South Africa firstly as a child and adolescent and then as an adult (for an explanation of these roles please follow this link) I seemed to fit as a member of the following minorities:

Stage of life: child/adolescent
I was a Jewish boy (in a predominately Christian religious society) who spoke English (where the predominant language was either Afrikaans or a Bantu language) and was of European descent (where the predominant race was African). Hence I was a member of a minority within a minority within a minority.

Competitors:
At this stage of my life I had not chosen a profession and since I chose not to participate in any sporting activities, I had no competitors.

Stage of life: adult
I
was a non heterosexual guy (in a predominately heterosexual society), who chose to study Scientology but was born a Jew, was English speaking and of European descent. Hence I was a member of a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority.

Looking back now I can see that my decision to not want to live in a country under the rule of heterosexual, Christian and Afrikaans speaking Nationalist Party supporters that offered the people of South Africa the Apartheid approach as the only political solution was the reason for my migrating to Australia. I certainly would not have wanted to live under an ANC lead Government hence my decision not to return to South Africa once the ANC were swept into power.

Competitors:
As I was still learning my trade as a computer programmer, my competitors for jobs were not that many, hence I was always able to find gainful employment.

Australia
I migrated to Australia in 1977 and have now spent nearly 60% of my life living here.

Stage of life: adult
At first I was a non heterosexual guy (in a predominately heterosexual society), who chose to study Scientology but was born a Jew. So at least my race was no longer an issue. However at this stage of my life my competitors would start to play a more predominant role in defining who I was.

Competitors: programing approach
I was an ardent fan of the Jackson application design approach (in a predominately structured design environment) who was a non heterosexual guy (in a predominately heterosexual society), chose to study Scientology but was born a Jew. Hence I was a member of a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority. However I did not seem to find it difficult finding gainful employment as I was able to demonstrate that I was capable of designing and writing computer programs more rapidly than most.

Competitors: Information Engineering
When I realised that the Jackson application design approach had a weakness when it came to designing systems, I discovered I had an affinity with the Information Engineering approach and at this stage found myself as an Information engineer (in a predominately Structured Analysis and Object Oriented approaches) who was a non heterosexual guy, chose to study Scientology but was born a Jew. So I was still a member of a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority.

Finding gainful employment was now becoming an issue as the only employer I could ever have was the company that I was the technical director of and as I was often at odds with the chairman of the company my ability to find future gainful employment was severely impacted.

Competitors: Information Architecture - Ripose
When I realised that the Information Engineering approach had weaknesses I decided to part company with Information Engineering and began to explore ways to overcome the inherent weaknesses in the approach.

At this stage of my life I decided that Scientology no longer held my interest and It was time to move on. Hence I was now a Ripose Architect (in a predominately Enterprise Architecture environment - Balanced Scorecard, Zachman, TOGAF and PEAF frameworks - to name but a few) as well as being a non heterosexual guy born a Jew. So I was still a member of a minority within a minority within a minority.

Finding gainful employment was now virtually impossible as I would need to find an organisation that understands the weaknesses of the so called 'best practices approaches' and were seeking a more efficient, effective, ethical and easy-to-use approach, namely the Ripose Technique.

My search for such an organisation will continue until I am no longer able to function as an adult human being.
