Welcome to the Ripose web site

What is Ripose?

Ripose is a business development life cycle technique and knowledge management tool, designed to address the problem of project cost and time over runs – for details please see a survey by the Standish Group (2) and have a look at the Ripose features and benefits below.

Ripose provides a protocol, which enables all levels of competencies (3) with the capability to clarify a specific problem by applying a set of generic templates. Each template contains a set of algebraic (4) formulae into which specific parameters can be placed in order to solve a given problem.

An example of an algebraic formula: c2 = a2 + b2. This formula provides the means to solve a number of problems associated only with right-angled triangles.

Figure 1 represents the specific instance of a right-angled triangle, while figure 2 represents a generic right-angled triangle.  Given 2 sides of a right-angles triangle, the length of the third side is easily calculated.

Ripose provides a series of 'figure 2' templates, providing any intelligent person with the capability of solving very complex business problems by reducing each complex component into a series of simple solutions.

In addition, the Ripose technique ensures that each solution is fully integrated by applying the steps of the technique in a precise sequence. This removes the need to introduce a very costly and time consuming integration step commonly used by most other techniques.

Ripose is based on a number of existing methodologies. These include business systems planning (BSP), information engineering (IE) and software engineering. Ripose has integrated their strengths and eliminated their weaknesses and overheads!

Features

  • Clarify your business objectives. These include your:
    • Goals including their relative priority
    • Business rules and measures to support your goals
  • Clarify a knowledge architecture, reflecting your business knowledge and business processes
  • Produce a long term business strategic plan that provides your business rules with a framework for the development of future IT services
  • Identify deficiencies (if any) in your present IT applications and develop action plans to correct them
  • Review and implement recommendations based on the long term IT plan;
  • Plan, analyze, and design the necessary data bases to support your business information and rules
  • Plan, analyze and design the necessary procedures and applications to support your data bases

Benefits

  1. Rapid determination of information requirements and the identification of the most appropriate way of satisfying those requirements
  2. Development of long-term flexible systems that are tailored to your business plans, both current and long term
  3. Systems developed in a fraction of the time normally associated with the development phase (Fast track solutions)
  4. Developed systems that operate at a cost lower than traditionally possible - through design flexibility and reduced maintenance
  5. Systems which provide the flexibility crucial to supporting management decision making in an evolutionary and competitive market place
  6. Systems that are independent of hardware and software technology
  7. Transference of skills to maintain on-going development. Ensures systems remain your property
  8. Reduced reworking of previously implemented systems and applications due to the fully integrated conceptual view
